Abby Ford in LONDON nominated at the MTA Awards this week

Directed by our Joint AD GeorgeLONDON was the UK premiere of a new project incorporating the critically acclaimed Sea Wall and T5 starring Cary Crankson (who has just finished touring with Kate Tempest’s WASTED) and Abby Ford.

As George is in New York opening GOOD WITH PEOPLE this week and James is rehearsing for JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS Paines Plough regular Cary is representing Team PP- Fingers Crossed!

London tech week

Our AD George has been tweeting clues to the slightly radical production approach to Simon Stephens’ LONDON that he and the creative team are taking.

George decamped to the Salberg Studio at the Salisbury Playhouse with his team Hannah (set and costume designer), Malcolm (lighting designer), Nicola (stage manager), Tom (sound designer) and actors Abby and Cary last week for some pre-tech R & D on the project.

With tech week starting yesterday, we’re expecting more updates on how the concept works in practice via twitter @painesplough and on this blog.

Come and see for yourself what we’ve been up to by joining the tour at some point. Hope to see you there.

Rehearsals begin for LONDON by Simon Stephens

With ROUNDABOUT up, running and open for business at Shoreditch Town Hall, rehearsals began in earnest at PPHQ yesterday for the eleventh production of Programme 2012 – Olivier Award-Winning Simon StephensLONDON.

The project incorporates Simon’s play SEA WALL – which was originally commissioned and produced by The Bush Theatre in a production directed by our Joint Artistic Director George – and its companion piece, T5, which was recently published alongside WASTWATER.

We are co-producing LONDON with our friends at Salisbury Playhouse and Live Theatre Newcastle, before touring to Brighton Dome, Manchester Royal Exchange Studio and The Tron Theatre Glasgow.

LONDON is directed by George and designed by Hannah Clark, with lighting from Malcolm Rippeth and Sound by Tom Gibbons.

The production stars Cary Crankson and Abby Ford (below).

As usual, you’ll be able to follow the rehearsals, opening and tour right here on the PP blog.

In the meantime you can get daily updates from @painesplough or by searching twitter for #LondonPlay and you can find links to book tickets here.
